Achievements and Reflection on Major Concerns
Major Concern 1:
Enhancing study atmosphere and learning motivation of students by setting
clear targets for different forms
Achievements
1. Careers and life planning: A working committee has been set up to review
and coordinate the CLP education. A work plan has been drawn and
implemented in a smooth way. With the provision of CLP grant, better and
more CLP activities can be arranged for the students. To equip teachers with
the knowledge of CLP, a staff development day with CLP as the focus has
been arranged.
2. Enhancing study atmosphere: The school has been cultivating studying
atmosphere among the students, e.g. ECA activities are suspended at 6:00 pm
every day, special morning assembly on Day 2 with a focus on learning
attitude, etc. This year, students are allowed to enter their base room at 7:45
am. This measure is believed to reduce the chance of homework copying of
the students. With the launching of the Campus TV, better learning
atmosphere will be created.
3. Enhancing learning motivation: The learning motivation of students has
been enhanced through different measures such as after-school homework
completion class (ASHWC), after-school tutorial classes of the core subjects.
This year, learning attitude assessment is implemented after trial. It is believed
that it can further enhance students’ learning motivation.
4. Reviewing and improving awards: This year the existing awards have been
reviewed and the amount for the best subject award has increased to HK$100
each. Also, the Economic scholarship has been established to provide more
incentive for students to strive for better academic results.
5. Action plans: In order to boost the public exam results of the senior form
students, S6 students in particular, action plans have been drawn and
implemented by academic subject panels. The measure directs subject panel to
pay more effort on improving students’ results in HKDSE.
6. S3 subject selection and related education: This year the S4 structure and
the details of the subject selection have been revised with reference to
experience of the last year. A serious of educational activities such as theatre
on streaming, streaming talks, trial lessons and so on have been conducted.
Students are better informed before conducting the subject selection. Also, it
is the first time for us to have the second round subject selection conducted
online.

7. Fine-tuning the S4 subject withdrawal and S5 class streaming in
2015-2016: Based on the principles and framework confirmed last year, the
S4 subject withdrawal and the S5 class streaming mechanism have been
fine-tuned. The confirmed mechanism is believed to be beneficial to students
as more flexibility has been given to students who would like to keep 3
electives in S.5 and better utilization of lessons would be achieved for the 2X
classes. It is believed the mechanism can enhance students’ learning
motivation and improve their academic performance.
8. Measures to help the S6 students: Measures such as purchasing students’
HKDSE answer scripts, arranging external mock exams, delaying the mock
examination and so on have been adopted to better equip the S6 students for
the HKDSE.
9. Enhancement and remedial classes: This year more resources have been
allocated to these classes. It is believed that those classes are useful to
students.
10. Thinking skill education: This year thinking skill education has been further
promoted as seen from the establishment of the Chinese debating team. In
addition, the annual inter-house debate contest has been kept to encourage
students to know more about debating and sharpen their thinking skills
through debates. Apart from these, debating has been commonly used in
subjects such as Chinese and Liberal Studies to train students.
11. Gifted education: With the establishment of the gifted education committee,
gifted education has been promoted. Apart from the gifted programs in Math,
English and so on, more gifted education programs are introduced to
high-achievers.
12. S3 Summer program: It is the first time for the school to launch summer
program for the low-achievers of S.3. The program not only aims to enhance
students learning motivation but also improve students’ self-esteem and
inter-personal skills. It is believed that the program is beneficial to students.
13. S4 summer programs: With the experience of the last year, S4 re-test and
tutorial class will be provided for low-achievers of S.4. Some sorts of
developmental programs will be added to the program. Better use of the
summer time and learning attitude are to be expected.
14. S5 summer programs: Built on the success of the S.4 program last year,
similar program will be launched for the N4 students of S.5. In addition, in
order to strengthen the learning attitude of the S.5 students and to ensure them
to make good use of the summer time for studying, the whole form will come
back for summer tests for each academic subject in late August.

Reflection
1. CLP: Goal setting education at different levels should be further
implemented. The overall CLP should be reviewed improved.
2. Study skills: Students should be equipped with general study skills
systematically. Such skills should be taught from S.1 onwards.
3. Learning atmosphere and learning attitude: Learning atmosphere and
learning attitude of students should be further enhanced through different
means such as Campus TV, learning attitude assessment, etc. More positive
reinforcement should be explored to encourage students to work hard in their
learning.
4. Thinking education: Thinking education should be further enhanced through
debates.
5. Academic-related ECA: more academic-related extra-curricular activities
should be launched to raise students learning motivation and enhance the
learning atmosphere of the school.
6. Gifted education should be further developed.
7. As reflected from the S.4 issue on subject withdrawal and S5 class streaming,
more timely communication with the students as well as teachers should be
conducted.
8. To a large extent the targets of Major Concern 1 have been achieved,
though there is still room for improvement.

Major Concern 2:
Enhancing pedagogy, cross-curricular collaboration, school curriculum and
assessment practices
Achievements
1. eLearning: With the efforts contributed by Mr. Chong, Mr. Tsin and members of th
e
eLearning committee, there is evident advancement in
the implementation of
eLearning. Lesson trials on PowerLesson and eLearning are found in various subjects
such as Biology, Chinese Literature, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and so on.
2. Creative teaching in English:
Great contributions have been given by Mr. Tsin, Ms
Wong, Ms Yip, Ms Cheung and other colleagues to carry out the trials
on creative
drama teaching in English. Students enjoyed the lessons very much and such trial
s are
valuable experience on cross-subject collaboration.
3. Sharing with colleagues:
More and more colleagues are willing to know more about the pedagogy. More
colleagues attended the eClass Day to develop themselves in pedagogy. Also, mo
re
experience sharing and interflow of pedagogical trials have been conducted
with
other schools such as the
United Christian College (Kowloon East), Pentecostal
School, etc.
4. Lesson observation:
Enhancement in pedagogy has been noticed through both the
Principal lesson observation and peer lesson observation.
5. Curriculum review: Review on junior form social subjects has
been conducted. It
has been agreed that social subjects of S.1 and S.2 will be offered separately in
the
coming academic year. It is bel
ieved that such change will enrich the knowledge
background of the junior form students.
6. Bridging the junior and senior form curriculum
: When planning the junior form
curriculum of LS and other social subjects, better bridging
to the senior form
curriculum has been regarded as an important concern for the curriculum reform.
7. EMI
: EMI has been promoted to create a better learning environment through audio
and visual means. An
EMI talk has been conducted staff meeting to facilitate EMI
teaching.
8. Modification in assessment practice: The policy that the 2
nd
term examination
should cover 20-30% of 1
st
term subject content has been kept
. It is believed that such
policy will enhance the learning atmosphere of the school.

Reflection
1. eLearning & Power lesson
: remarkable advancement related to eLearning has been
noticed and such advancement should be sustained in future.
2. Other pedagogy: other pedagogy, such as lesson study, self-directed learning
and so
on should be explored since it is widely recognized as a
n effective pedagogy to
increase learning motivation of students.
3. Creative teaching: Creative teaching strategy should be further promoted in
the
coming years.
4. Professional development in pedagogy: more sharing and professional interflow
concerning pedagogical trials should be conducted.
5. Lesson observation:
Lesson observation should involve more professional interflow
among members of the same panel. A better lesson observation form
which suits the
current requirements of External School Review should be adopted.
6. In brief, to a large extent the targets of Major Concern 2 have been achieved
,
with room for improvement.

Major Concern3: To foster students’ moral values and positive attitudes
towards life
Achievements
1. School theme related activities
A. To reinforce an atmosphere of appreciation and respect in the school
campus, students with good performance have been elected as ‘Star of the
Class’ by classmates and form teachers.
B. To encourage positive attitudes towards life,‘I Can Do It Campaign’ and
‘We Can Do It Campaign’ have been held to appreciate students and
classes that have good performance in punctuality, submission of
homework, grooming and class discipline.
C. Teachers and guests have shared school-theme messages in the Morning
Prayer sessions and assemblies.
D. To echo with the school theme, an award scheme has been introduced by
the Religion Department to encourage students to recite the Bible verses,
pray and attend the fellowship meetings.
2. Cross-departmental Work
A. To enhance students’ sense of belonging to school, cross departmental
collaboration on the Cleanliness and Discipline Contest and the Student
Organizer Cover Design Competition have been held successfully.
B. Close coordination among Religion Department, Counselling Department
and Discipline Department, especially in deciding the school theme,
school major concern and S.1 Orientation Day in August.
3. Moral education programmes
A. Moral education programmes have been launched in junior forms. They
include‘Basic Life Skill Training Programme’(成長新動力計劃) for S.3
students through the co-operation with the Health Department and
‘P.A.T.H.S. to Adulthood Programme Tier 1’(共創成長路) for S.1 & S.2
students through the co-operation with Hong Kong Children & Youth
Services.
B. A larger scale of sex education has been established.
Sex-peer-counsellors Team has been set up. Several sex educational
workshops have been carried out. Exhibition, games and talks have been
organized on the Sex Education Days. Two sex education lessons for S.1
and S.2 students have been run. Through all these activities, students’
value of and attitude towards sex have been developed.
4. Training for students
A. A series of training sessions and a training camp have been organized for
the counselling perfects. In which, guidance about right moral values,

positive attitudes towards social life and studies has been provided.
Community services, such as blood donation, ‘red-packet’ donation and
donation for the disaster of Nepal earthquake have been organized.
Students have learnt to share with others and serve our community.
B. A serious of tailor made training and workshops have been organized for
the school prefects. In which, guidance about teamwork development,
sense of belongings, social skills, problem solving skills towards
management and students’ matters has been provided.
C. The prefect cadets have displayed their potential in doing work like the
daily temperature checking, reception in school activities and some of the
miscellaneous work in the prefect team. They were strongly dedicated to
the job.
5. Talks for students
A. Talks on topics like correct use of Internet, responsibility of being a
family member have been arranged.
B. Special talks and workshops have been delivered by guest speakers or
professional institutions, with the aims of enhancing students’
perseverance and confidence. Topics include media influences, bullying,
drug abuse, sex education, emotion management, anti-smoking and
anti-gambling. To instill the correct morale values and responsibilities
into students, guidelines on suggested moral topics for teacher sharing in
the morning assemblies have been provided.
6. Equipping parents
Parent-child Day Camp, S.1 Parents Orientation Day and three parents
talks have been organized. They aim at promoting the co-operation
between school and parents and equip parents to educate their children.
7. Social service
The programme of the Counselling Social Services Team has been well
developed. Through activities like adventure camp and war game, team
spirit has been developed and interpersonal social skills have been trained.
Through providing social services and life experience activities, like taking
a day trip and visiting families in Tai O, students have learnt to serve others
and understand our society from different aspects.
8. Special care for students
A. S.1 Orientation Day and ‘The Big-Brothers & Sisters Scheme’ have been
run smoothly. All S.1 students have been put under the care of the
counselling perfects, with the aim of helping them to build up good
habits and positive attitudes towards life.
B. Special guidance, with emphasis on appropriate attitudes towards studies

and life planning, has been provided to repeaters.
C. Special care has been provided for SEN students. It includes forming
study groups, speech therapy, social skill enhancement class, exam
accommodation, teaching & learning plans. It aims at providing SEN
students with an appropriate learning environment.
D. To mediate students in non-disciplinary cases so as to rebuild the
relationship among the students.
E. Bible verses have been put in the students’ handwork to remind students
the school theme.
F. To focus on students’ performance outside school so as to ensure their
performance is appropriate.
9. Counselling service
Counselling services have been provided for individual student in order to
correct and develop their moral values, behavior and positive attitudes.

Reflection
1. With the termination of the ‘PATHS’ programme, a new moral programme,
which will be more ‘school-based’, should be introduced.
2. The effect of conducting sex education lessons in classrooms (for S.1 & S.2
students) is good. Sex education lessons may be considered to conduct in
other forms.
3. To avoid duplication and to improve the effectiveness of the S.1 Orientation
Day, further evaluation, communication and co-operation among
Counselling Dept., Studies Dept., Discipline Department and Religion
Department is necessary.
4. There is still room for improvement in providing guidance to repeaters.
5. With the help of the Counselling programme assistant, the organization and
working system related to SEN should be improved.
6. Re-establishing the inter-school prefect activities with neighbor schools.
7. Revision of work flow and administration of the prefect team.
8. Reviewing the new arrangement for the Morning Prayer on Day2 & Day6 and
the moral topics for teachers’ sharing.
9. Organizing feature talks or workshops to equip parents with the skills in
handling students’ discipline matters. This helps strengthen the bond between
teachers, parents and children.
10. Investigating the feasibility of providing reading materials in reading lessons
to enhance the development of junior form students’ moral values and
positive attitudes.
11. The targets are mostly achieved. Effort will be made on this major
concern in the coming academic year, with emphasis on:
a. Reviewing the S.1 Orientation Programme.
b. The arrangement for the ‘school-based’ moral programme.
c. The possibility of conducting sex education lessons in different forms.
d. Strengthening the role of prefect team.
e. Reviewing the arrangement for the morning assemblies.
f. Fostering students’ moral values and positive attitudes in other areas
through the cooperation of different departments.
