Principal Mr Ho Kuen Fai (serving from 1983 to 2006).
Straining both mind and body, aiming with foresight
Principal Mr Ho Kuen Fai has been appointed as the founding principal of our school since its establishment in 1983, spending twenty-three years with us. He dedicated his prime years to the school, infused with the extra grace given by God, establishing our school as a place filled with Christ's love.
Principal Ho has devoted himself to our school, utilizing his visionary perspective on education and administrative leadership to guide us on an extraordinary path of development.
Whole Person Education
Principal Ho places great emphasis on the spiritual nurturing of our school. In the first year of its establishment, our school held evangelical weeks and established fellowships. Principal Ho attended fellowship activities, participated in the practical work of the Shatin Assembly of the Kowloon Pentecostal Church and encouraged students and teachers to join the gatherings there. To this day, many members and deacons of the Shatin Assembly of the Kowloon Pentecostal Church have come to know the gospel, made commitments to Christ and joined the church through Principal Ho's influence.
With unwavering determination, Principal Ho led our school out of an era of limited resources and varying student abilities, transforming it over the course of a decade into one of the most esteemed English medium schools in the Shatin district. He combined his passion for music, literature and calligraphy with his wisdom in education to lead our school in developing a diverse arts program. Amidst the educational reforms of the new millennium, the school introduced drama, dance, choir and media arts into its regular curriculum, positioning us as a pioneer in Arts Education.
Vision Statement
In the face of the information-driven era of the 21st century, Principal Ho believes that schools must equip students well, enabling them to realize their potential, establish a lifelong learning capability and set clear directions for personal and career development. Under Principal Ho's forward-thinking leadership, our school has set a vision statement: “We are committed to creating a joyful teaching and learning environment, equipping students to meet the challenges of the 21st century".
The clear goals set by Principal Ho have facilitated the enhancement of the quality of teaching and learning, improved the quality of students and teachers, upgraded facilities and campus quality and provided holistic Christian education to cultivate, inspire, and empower students. Today, our school continues to progress in line with Principal Ho's established goals and directions, actively facing the various challenges of the educational reforms and embracing a brighter future.
Concept of Installation Art
Installation art is an artistic creation that takes place within a given physical space, creating artistic meanings between the "site" and "concept". This form of creation involves temporal interactions, reshaping historical sites and creating history for the future. Installation art not only allows us to reminisce about Principal Ho's contributions to our school but also serves as a reminder to always remember the educational direction he set for us.
Based on Principal Ho's Calligraphy Inspiration
The art installation is prominently located on the ground floor of the school, a space that catches the attention of teachers, students and visitors as they enter the school gates.
To the right of the guests is a calligraphy masterpiece created by Principal Ho for the joint literary and visual art event "Poetry and Painting" in 2006. The piece features encouraging poetry that uplifts teachers and students:
Green saddled with the study building.
Golden dew leaning against the village.
Blessed ground planting tall trees.
Good teachers do not envy rest.
Principal Ho has always had a passion for calligraphy, creating a beautiful bookmark every year featuring his calligraphy masterpiece and inspiring and blessing words. These bookmarks have become a symbol for us to cherish. We use Principal Ho's classical Chinese style in calligraphy as the foundation of the entire installation art, highlighting his pioneering role at our school .

The Four Fundamental Concepts
To highlight Principal Ho's active promotion of religious and Art Education in the school, we have created a postmodern art piece combining elements of "Neoplasticism" represented by Mondrian and piano components, aiming to showcase the four core concepts of "Purity, Heritage, Innovation and Leadership". The artwork aims to express Principal Ho's personal commitment to faith and musical accomplishments, reflecting his direction in developing religious education and diverse arts education in our school.
The work embodies the four core concepts of "Purity, Heritage, Innovation, and Leadership":
Purity - Interpretation of Background Design
Using simple shapes and pure colors to create harmony and rhythm, expressing an alternative musicality.
The work is based on Mondrian's "Neoplasticism". Mondrian emphasizes foundation and purity, focusing on depicting order while using the simplest shapes and pure colors to create harmony and rhythm, expressing an alternative musicality.
By incorporating Mondrian's creative ideas into the background of the entire installation art, we aim to complement our school as a Christian institution where teachers and students look up to Jesus Christ with pure hearts, desiring God's light to shine upon our school.
The most striking feature in the artwork is the cross, symbolizing the sent and resurrected Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of our educational mission. The circular shape combined with the cross represents the Holy Spirit, completing the trinity of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit guiding our school's development. The small circles above signify light in darkness. Jesus said to the people, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life". The two overlapping circles at the bottom right, one large and one small, symbolize our teachers and students looking up to Jesus Christ together, following Him to receive the light of life.
Heritage, Innovation - Interpretation of Three-Dimensional Installation
Precision and orderly components within a piano. | Excerpt from Principal Ho's book "My Diary" published before retirement in 2007. |
The central three-dimensional installation is crafted using the precision and orderly components found within a piano as design elements, starting with the purest elements and incorporating modern art concepts to convey motivations for reform and innovation.
Principal Ho led our school for twenty-three years, dedicating himself to promoting religious education, music education and subsequently advancing innovative Art Education, ultimately achieving holistic education. This three-dimensional installation mimics the design of components inside a piano, symbolizing Principal Ho's dedication to promoting and innovating in education. The progression from small to large shapes represents heritage, reflecting the educational legacy established by Principal Ho, continuing to pass on and innovate with the power of faith.
Below the installation, we have included an excerpt from Principal Ho's book "My Diary" (2007), signed with Principal Ho's own handwriting, to constantly remind our school of the direction of our development.
Guiding - The Design of the School History Corridor.
The commemorative installation for Principal Ho extends beyond the starting point of the underground staircase and continues throughout the entire School History Corridor, culminating at the 003B meeting room where discussions on school development and decision-making take place.
In the School History Corridor, we showcase the achievements and awards of Principal Ho from his era to the present, using colors that echo the initial installation. This symbolizes our school starting with Principal Ho, his personal qualities and his contributions to the establishment of the school's educational mission, guiding future generations to continue the legacy and innovation towards a new future.
The 003B meeting room is where Principal Ho presided over administrative meetings and nearly all of our school's measures originate from this room. Inside, there are displays of the school’s development and student achievements, including religious education, language education, Art Education, physical education, leadership training, holistic learning, and campus beautification. The design is based on simple shapes and pure colors, echoing the background of the installation art, symbolizing our school's development and achievements. With hearts that look purely to Christ, we continue to pass on and innovate, leading towards a better future.
